This song originated during the Romantic Period from the proud traditions of making music in American Colleges.

Composed by W.F. Hascall (1854-1925) and published in 1882, this song in 4 part harmony (SATB - soprano, alto, tenor, bass) can be sung with all 4 verses, or just the first and fourth verses. There is a twist in the story that comes through in the 4th verse!
