Down Down Baby

  • I use this song and chant as a choir warm up to create some enthusiasm and energy, work with a fun, strong beat, get the children moving and to incorporate some different vocal sounds! We experiment with different pitches and vocal slides for the 'ding dong' and the 'hot dog'.
  • I have found this chant particularly useful for engaging with boys. They can be a energetic in a controlled context and the range of a 4th at the beginning is more achievable than songs with a wider vocal range.
  • Great for working with 'do', 'low la' and 'low so'.
  • There is some advanced practise of ties.
