This Endris Night 6/4

This 15th century English Carol is great for teaching 6/4 metre.

Some teaching ideas:

  • Before teaching the song, use it as a rhythmic dictation.
  • Have your students re-write the song in 6/8 metre - i.e. halve every rhythm. (They might need help with the tim-ka!)
  • Discuss how it changes the feel of the song if written in 6/8.
  • Learn how to conduct in 6/4.
