The First Noel - D Major

  • "The First Noel" is a Christmas carol in 3/4 time.
  • Melodic elements "fa" and "ti" are always preceded and followed by steps making this a fantastic song for teaching these elements.
  • The rhythmic element "tum ti" is used repeatedly on beats one and three making this a useful song for preparing and practising this element (I prefer to make conscious this rhythm in 4/4 time).
  • Because this song mostly uses steps it is a terrific song for modal transformation for advanced students.
