Pentatonic Etude Number 1

This simple 4 bar Pentatonic Etude is designed to give students the opportunity to:

• Sing with letter names.
• Sing with solfa - with a pentatonic focus.
• Sing with rhythm names - with a focus on the rhythm tika-tika (semiquavers / sixteenth notes).
• Sing musically with a gentle ebb and flow while still keeping the beat. The feel of the ebb and flow will come when a gentle accent is felt on the first beat of each bar and a pulling back on the 2nd beat of each bar.
• Work on intonation of the ascending and descending pentatonic scale.
