This American Nursery Rhyme is great for:

• Keeping the beat.
• Using as a simple clapping game.
• Teaching the melodic element "li" (sharpened "la").
• Feeling the rests - some bars have 1 beat rest and bar 4 has 2 beats rest on beats 2 and 3.
• Middle to primary to lower secondary students can conduct this piece to feel these 2 beats of rest - making sure not to speed up through them and also learning about the anacrusis.
