This traditional American folk song can be used to:

  • Teach the melodic element 'di' (sharpened 'do').
  • Prepare and practise the rhythmic element 'tim-ka'.
  • Practise singing and recognising large intervals, e.g. rising minor 7th ('low so' to 'fa') and falling Perfect 5th ('mi' to 'low la').
