Clementine

Written about 'Clementine' the daughter of a miner in the 1849 California Gold Rush, this may seem like a sorrowful ballad, however, it is full of tongue-in-cheek humour!

This very popular ballad is great for working with:

  • The melodic element 'fa'.
  • The rhythmic element 'tim-ka'.
  • The ascending tonic and dominant triads (d-m-s and s,-t,-r).
