Are You Sleeping (What is the Name of this Song)

This worksheet is used in connection with the song 'Are You Sleeping', and provides many opportunities for practising the rhythmic element 'tika-tika'.

In this worksheet, students will:

  1. Clap the rhythm. You might like to instruct students to also say the rhythm in time names (e.g. line three - tika-tika, ti-ti, tika-tika, ti-ti)
  2. Figure out the name of the song they just clapped.
  3. Engage in rhythmic practise by completing any of the 8 suggested practical activities. Students can complete all 8, or the students or teacher can select which ones to do. These can be done individually, with a partner or as a class.

  • These practical tasks can be used for practise or assessment.
