Dynamics (Flash Cards)

This set contains the English, Italian and symbol for each dynamic.

Some suggested ways for using these flashcards:

  • Choose a song with verses (I like to use a silly song) and hold up the flash cards in a random order for students to sing the selected dynamic.
  • Shuffle the cards and select students to group the matching cards (e.g. p, piano, soft).
  • Select students to put the cards in order from softest to loudest (or loudest to softest).
  • Print a couple of sets, give each student a card and either:
    • have students find everyone else who has a matching card or
    • call out a dynamic and the students who have a card in that group (e.g. f, forte, loud) all stand up. For reinforcement, you might like them to then sing a song at that dynamic.
